Welcome to the rustic simplicity at the salt raker inn, a charming, locally operated seaside property, steeped in history, just Steps from a powder white sandy beach and a few hundred yards from some of the world’s finest scuba, snorkeling and whale watching .   Our onsite bar and restaurant which is opened from from 7 am to 11 pm daily, serves the finest in Turks and caicos cuisine accompanied by North American comfort food.   Our onsite dive center caters to the needs of all skill levels and your dive boat picks you up just outside your door steps ( weather permitting)

Our History

The inn was originally built in the 1830s as the home of Bermudian Shipwright Jonathan Glass during the height of the Salt Era. The beach out front served as a build and repair shop for the small boas (lighters) used to ferry salt out to the larger salt cargo vessels anchored in the deeper waters offshore. The local donkeys, now turned celebrities were the original form of transportation from the salt ponds to the beach loading zones where it was ferried out to the cargo vessels. The property has changed hands a few times since it was built and is now operated by Wayne Hall who has turned it into a comfortable home away from home for Scuba Divers, explorers, bird watchers, whale watchers and history buffs seeking laid back rustic comfort with amazing cuisine and an ocean view.

Reef Bar & Grill

Our onsite dining is provided by The Reef Bar & Grill, a local restaurant staffed by friendly smiling locals and offering a delectable menu of Turks Island cuisine as well as some North American and European dishes. Besides the regular menu, there are daily lunch and dinner specials to choose from with a lot of options being locally caught seafood. In fact all of our conch, fish and lobster are provided my local fishermen daily so technically it’s as fresh as it gets. Our bar is stocked with a variety of alcohols and a pretty good selection of fine wines, Prosecco’s and Champagne.

Salt Raker Diving

Grand Turk is one of the best places in the world for diving with its entire west side dotted with dive sites. The shallow reef tops go from a mere 25 feet in depth and plunges to 7000 feet below making for some of the most dramatic seascapes and beautiful coral formations. Our experienced staff are on hand to guide you through your dive experiences and make sure that you are safe, relaxed and can enjoy your dives to the maximum without stress or pressure.
